Dear Parents,
This weekend, our lesson will take a look at 2 Corinthians 1:3-5; God comforts us so that we can comfort others. During the lesson, I am excited to share the story of Jessie Reese, a courageous kid whose diagnosis with cancer led her to start a worldwide movement that brings joy (and comfort!) to thousands of other courageous kids. Jessie created the Joy Jar, and her motto, NEGU (Never Ever Give Up) is shouted from the rooftops all over the globe. I have included a couple of links to videos about Jessie, one is Jessie herself being interviewed about her Joy Jars. I highly recommend that you watch the videos with your child(ren). For younger kids, especially, there will be lots of questions. We show these videos in my elementary school, but always after allowing parents to preview and with a teacher in the room to help students with their questions. What’s the Point? Even though we are believers, bad stuff happens. We serve a God who loves us and comforts us. That truth gives us the power to love and comfort others.
Have a blessed week.
